Amazing.

This is Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. She worked for UNIVAC in 1949 who made some of the first computers ever. In 1951 she discovered the first computer “bug.”. In 1952 she had an operational compiler. “Nobody believed that,” she said. “I had a running compiler and nobody would touch it. They told me computers could only do arithmetic.”
You might not know what a compiler is, but it’s the reason you have an Operating System with programs on or a phone with apps. There would be no Windows or Apple or facebook or twitter or tumblr without her.
Today 14% of engineers are female. Some thing went wrong. Grace Hopper is a BAMF and more people should know.
30 Day Drawing Challenge Day 11: A Spaceship.
One of the very earliest things I can remember drawing is X-Wings. Mostly just a circle with an x in a back then, but I was born a year after Star Wars came out, and I’ve liked it basically my whole life. So I did this from memory, straight up. No reference. The perspective’s a little wonky, but whaddaya want for free?
30 Day Drawing Challenge Day 10: A chicken in a chicken suit.
I was trying to convey a look of abject terror on the chicken’s face, because I think that’s probably what it would be feeling in this situation, but… a scared chicken and a relaxed chicken look pretty similar, really.
